From the album liner notes: James Hetfield of Metallica has also been a champion of Waylon. He chose "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out Of Hand", a song that Waylon said was inspired by a famous drug search during a recording session. Hetfield says he chose the song because "'Outlaw Bit' for me is a song that speaks of being pigeonholed. That thing a true individual suffocates in. Waylon gives outlaw a good name," Hetfield says. "He lived the life he needed to live. Cutting his own path without a map. I can very much identify with the feelings associated with not fitting in. Waylon's legacy is one of walking through the fire and emerging stronger and wiser. Growing through struggle and never losing his passion, which is communicating through his gift of music."
